Hi, and thanks for stopping by.
I’m Alessandro Pistilli, an Italian expat who moved to the United States in 2006 for what was supposed to be a three‑year experiment. Like many good experiments, it ran longer than expected. Since then I’ve lived in New York City, New Jersey, and now the Seattle area, where I split my time between technology, craft, and family.
I’m a lifelong geek — curious about science, history, culture, food, politics, and the strange dance between the future and the past. I’ve always been drawn to systems, whether they’re technical, cultural, or culinary.
Professionally, I work at Microsoft, where I focus on identity, cloud architecture, and helping people make sense of complex systems. Before that, I was the product manager for Nokia Store monetization and held technical roles across startups. My work has always been about clarity, design, and building things that help people.
Outside of work, I’m driven by craft — especially food. I grew up in Italy, where food isn’t just nourishment; it’s memory, culture, and connection. Over the years I’ve developed a deep passion for pizza-making and regional Italian cooking, which eventually became arte della pizza — my personal exploration of tradition, technique, and the joy of sharing something made with intention.
This blog is where all of that comes together: food, tech, life, experiments, reflections, and the occasional rabbit hole.
